Cutting Boards: Our cutting boards are made with natural hardwoods and sealed with our proprietary blend of food safe and natural wood sealer. We only use edge grain and end grain for the cutting surface.
Why end grain? End grain boards orient the fibers of the woodgrain vertically. This allows for "self healing" and reduces the amount of permanent scarring. It is recommended to clean your board after use. End grain boards are a higher end board that is also much easier on your knives. The process for building these boards involves more steps, material and time, therefore they are a little more expensive then the edge grain boards.
Why edge grain? Edge grain boards are equally beautiful and incredibly durable. The advantage here is faster cleanup and price. These are a more affordable option that will last for years to come.
